Wow what a great weekend so filled with Mushrooms! We are very grateful that Robert Dale Rogers came to share his extensive knowledge with us. It was such a success that we’ve started planning next year’s Wild About Mushrooms event already!

Our weekend started off at The Hayloft Restaurant in Airdrie, Friday Aug 5/16. Executive Chef Jason Barton Browne created a 5 course menu that highlighted various mushrooms. Hayloft owner James Hoan Nguyen and his staff designed a feature cocktail, paired wines by JWebb and took such good care of us during our stay. In between courses Robert Dale Rogers spoke about the properties of the mushroom that we were eating. We had some real good roll on the floor kinda laughs and some serious, quite blissful moments as we enjoyed each dish.

On Saturday we spent the day in Kensington, Calgary at the Blank Page Studio. It was a full day of learning as Robert taught us in depth the Medicinal usages of Mushrooms. In between talks vendors The Light Cellar, New Earth Organics and Vital Essences were there to showcase their high quality Medicinal Mushroom products, for sampling and to purchase. Wild & Raw Superfood & Juice Bar provided our refreshments of their delicious Bullet Proof coffee and TrueBuch Kombucha. Hayden Block Smoke & Whisky provided a hearty and delicious lunch for us to enjoy. We also had special guests from The Alberta Mycological Society of whom partial proceeds of Saturdays event was donated to for their projects.

Sunday was spent in the field! We were blessed with good weather & an abundance of mushrooms of so many varieties thanks to all these rains we’ve been having. We hiked the forest in Water Valley, ate lunch amongst nature, and learned so much about all the different varieties of mushrooms! and my goodness there are so many!! As an Herbalist Robert was also able to share some of his plant knowledge with us which was a delight. It was a full day and a full weekend of learning all about mushrooms that we even dreamt of mushroom for two days after our workshop! Can’t wait until next year…
